As Capgemini marks the 'Year of Innovation' in 2026, we are guided by a single unifying principle: AI for All - Human, Inclusive, and Sustainable. We are thrilled to launch the Capgemini Exceller AgentifAI Buildathon, our flagship Gen AI and Agentic AI competition, designed to help you create real-world AI solutions and make a lasting impact and build together with us.
At Capgemini, we believe technology is rapidly evolving from theoretical concepts in classrooms to practical solutions in the real world. We witness this transformation every day as we develop and implement AI solutions for businesses across various sectors.
The AgentifAI Buildathon, designed as an industry-academia engagement, invites students to immerse themselves in real-world AI problem-solving. Participants will explore GenAI and Agentic AI technologies, develop intelligent solutions for industry challenges, and showcase their innovations directly to the Capgemini industry experts. This event is more than just a competition; it's a platform where curiosity meets capability, and innovation transforms into action.
The top 10 teams in this team-based competition will be rewarded with prizes and recognition, including one winner, two runners-up, and seven finalist teams. Beyond the finals, participants can win amazing rewards throughout their Capgemini Exceller AgentifAI Buildathon Side Quest journey for their engagement, creativity, and innovation along the way.

Eligibility & Participation Guidelines
The contest is open to students from the 2026 and 2027 graduating batches of selected colleges in India that have an existing relationship with Capgemini. Participation is by invitation only and is completely voluntary. Eligible students will receive an official invitation from their college/university and/or Capgemini with details on how to register and participate. Registrations made through unofficial means, such as forwarded emails, messages from friends, or links from other colleges will be treated as invalid. Please note that registration alone does not guarantee participation in the contest. Capgemini is not obligated to notify students whose registrations are deemed invalid.
The set of eligible colleges is available but not displayed here to maintain privacy. A list of invited colleges can be produced only for legal, audit and other statutory compliance purposes on demand only to concerned authorities. Capgemini reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the contest, including eligibility, without any further communication.
Registration
All eligible students will receive an official registration link to participate in the AgentifAI Buildathon. A confirmation email from the organizer or a service provider appointed by Capgemini will confirm the student's participation. The registration window for the competition is 20th March to 31st March. Any registration submitted after this period will not be considered for participation.
How to Register:
- One member registers as Team Captain on the Superset platform and creates the team
- The Captain then invites 4 teammates from the same college
- Invited members will receive a verification link - each member must verify and confirm to complete the team registration
- Teams are considered registered only once all 5 members have verified their participation
Pre Qualification Round
The journey begins on your campus! In the Pre Qualification Round, student teams compete within their own college to earn a spot among the top performers. This stage encourages widespread participation while ensuring only the most promising and well aligned teams move forward. This round will be conducted as a team-based challenge, where participants will work together to complete two activities within 45 minutes. The objective is not just to arrive at answers, but to demonstrate structured thinking, effective collaboration, and the ability to apply technical skills in practical scenarios. The top teams from each college will be shortlisted to represent their institution in the main Capgemini Exceller AgentifAI Buildathon 2026. This round sets the foundation for innovation, energy, and competitive spirit right from the start.

Round 1: Elevator Pitch - Approach & Solution Screening
Round 1 evaluates clarity of thought, creativity, and strategic approach. Teams will deliver an elevator-pitch-style overview of their proposed solution, outlining their problem understanding, solution approach, technical direction, and uniqueness. The objective of this round is to quickly identify teams that demonstrate strong insight, logical reasoning, and solution feasibility for real-world GenAI and Agentic AI challenges. Evaluation will focus on structured thinking, clarity of articulation, and innovation. Based on this assessment, teams with the strongest foundation and potential will be shortlisted to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Round 2: The Deep Dive - Detailed Technical Solutioning
In Round 2, teams move from concept to concrete design. This phase requires a thorough walkthrough of the solution architecture, technical components, data strategy, LLM workflow, agentic capabilities, and implementation plan. Students will present prototypes, early models, or functional modules that demonstrate their ability to translate ideas into action. Judges will evaluate technical depth, feasibility, innovation, and alignment with enterprise use cases. This round challenge participant to refine their thinking, justify design choices, and validate their solution with evidence. Only the most robust, wellengineered, and high potential solutions will move forward to the final presentation round.
Capgemini will assign a mentor to each college or group of colleges to guide teams during Round 2. Mentors will help clarify use-case objectives, ensure teams stay aligned, and address non-technical queries. They will not contribute to technical solutioning or development but purely support direction and understanding.

Round 3: Leadership Round - Final Presentation to Executive Leaders
In Round 3, finalist teams present their complete solution to a panel of executive leaders and industry experts. This round evaluates not only technical excellence but also storytelling, business impact, scalability, user experience, and realworld applicability. Teams will showcase their end-to-end solution, demo key features, and articulate the value their innovation delivers. This is their moment to inspire leaders with vision, clarity, and confidence. The best-performing teams will stand out through their ability to combine technology, design, and business thinking, recognition, prizes, and opportunities to engage further with industry professionals.

Side Quests across the Buildathon
Side Quests are the fun twist in your Buildathon journey. Alongside the main build, you'll unlock regular mini challenges designed to surprise you, intrigue you, and keep things exciting. Think quick-fire quizzes, treasure hunts, murder mysteries, creative challenges, and unexpected formats that bring out different sides of your skills. They're lighter, playful, and competitive in the best way, with extra chances to win prizes, goodies, beyond the main quest.
Importantly, the points earned through side quests will also contribute to the main leaderboard, strengthening your team's position and increasing your college's overall chances of winning.
Selection of Top 10 teams
- Upon completion of all screening rounds, the Top 10 teams will be selected based on a cumulative scoring model. Scores from the Pre-Qualification Round, Round 1, and Round 2 will be aggregated to assess overall performance.
- Evaluation will consider problem understanding, innovation, technical depth, execution quality, and real-world applicability of the proposed solutions. Judges will also review consistency across rounds, prototype maturity, and alignment with GenAI and Agentic AI requirements.
- Teams achieving the highest overall scores will qualify for the Grand Finale, where they will present their solutions to senior and executive leadership.

In addition to the above rewards, outstanding participants may also be considered for future employment opportunities to engage with Capgemini's early hiring programs, subject to the organization's evaluation processes and eligibility criteria.
All prizes are subject to applicable taxes as per the laws and regulations of India. Winners will be subjected to taxation in accordance with the provision of the Income-Tax Act. The settlement of the rewards will follow the company's process and timeline. It is winner's responsibility to comply with the applicable taxes as per the laws and regulations of India and declare the prize amount to concerned Government authorities if applicable.
